At Newbury, we have some Group class action on the Flat to look forward to.

The Greenham Stakes (3:00) is aimed at horses with aspirations for the Classics and Angel Bleu graduated last year from lowly company at Pontefract to picking up a Group 1 prize on Arc day at Longchamp.

That will be preceded by the Fred Darling Stakes (2:25) where Wild Beauty, who won a Grade 1 at Woodbine in Canada, puts her 1,000 Guineas credentials on the line.

The opener on the card is the Group 3 John Porter Stakes (1:50) with Thunderous and Ilaraab likely to be among the market leaders. The latter knows all about this circuit having won the St Simon’s Stakes over course-and-distance in October.
