Later on the card, the Paddy Power Novices’ Handicap Chase (3:35) has drawn a field of six and looks like being very competitive. This Listed race includes four last-time winners. Something’s got to give!

There’ll be seven races to look forward on the Ayr card, where it’s soft ground and champion jockey elect, Brian Hughes, has several chances of getting closer to the 200-winner mark.

There’s a dearth of runners at Hereford, despite an eight-race card, with just 53 declared. The pick of them looks to be the 3:41, a two-mile handicap chase, where local trainer Kerry Lee will be hoping Fanancier can give her another winner.

They also race on the All Weather at Wolverhampton and Lingfield Park in the afternoon and Kempton Park in the evening.
