A new month begins and we’re heading to Catterick Bridge and Leicester on Tuesday afternoon and the twilight Flat racing will be over at Newcastle.

It’s regrettable that just three entries have been received for the feature Novices’ Chase (1:30) on the card at Catterick given this is a decent pot by the track’s standards.

Cornerstone Lad is the best on official ratings though he was behind Mackenberg when the pair met at Carlisle. Micky Hammond’s eight-year-old will enjoy a massive pull at the weights and connections will be confident of turning around that 11 length deficit.

Hammond has a number of chances on the card including the evergreen Justforjames and the teenager will be in the Handicap Chase at 3:15.

The amateur riders get their chance at Leicester with two Hunters events to round off proceedings. Will Biddick is one of the leading lights of the game and he’ll have chances with Pure Vision for the Anthony Honeyball team in the first of the pair at 4:05.

Earlier in the card, Oscars Leader will attempt to defy penalty in the Novices’ Handicap Chase (3:00) though rivals Fille Illico and Pride Of Lecate were both winners of races in January.
