Horse racing results LIVE from the Cheltenham Festival day two plus tips and best bets
After a pulsating day one, another set of big guns arrive on day two of the Cheltenham Festival with Shishkin taking top billing in what is expected to be one of the great Queen Mother Champion Chases (3.30.)
Shishkin - trained by Nicky Henderson who had two winners on the first day - ran down Irish super horse Energumene late on when they met at Ascot and is again well fancied to do the same here. Standing in his way will be Willie Mullins other flier Chacun Pour Soi and last year’s first and second Putthekettleon and Nube Negra, as well as former great white hope Envoi Allen.
It will also be a truly emotional send off for dual Grand National hero and five times Festival winner Tiger Roll, who bids for a swan song in the Cross Country Chase (4.10) and - regardless of the outcome - he will be surely serenaded by the Festival crowd.
Tipster Garry Owen thinks the first race of the day will go to the Irish - but not the way we expect, with Journey With Me - trained by victorious Honeysuckle maestro Henry De Bromhead - predicted to down short-priced favourite Sir Gerhard in the Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle (1.30.)
There’ll be no room for nervousness in the Brown Advisory Chase (2.10) where Bravemansgame is expected to set a scorching pace, with Gary Owen’s NAP L’Homme Presse and Scotland’s Ahoy Señor - whose trainer Lucinda Russell had a winner yesterday - aiming to catch him.
Also look out for hotpot Facile Vega in the closing Bumper (5.30) and we’ll try and help you solve the almost impossible puzzles of the Coral Cup (2.50) and the Grand Annual Chase (4.50). You can find all the latest horse racing results and tips here LIVE!
