Horse racing tips and best bets from Kelso and Redcar

It's been a big weekend for horse racing with the Scottish Grand National but there is plenty more to come in the days ahead.

We're on the road to the big one at Aintree next weekend and things are heating up nicely.

Our man Garry Owen brings you his tips every day from all the UK meetings and hopes to help you pick some winners from Monday's action.

BROADWAY JOE (3:35) can star for Neil Alexander in the Borders Trust Handicap Chase at Kelso.

The eight-year-old put in another stellar performance when second to Lakota Warrior at Doncaster.

The gelding was staying-on nicely so he can land a cracking contest up in trip.

MASKED CRUSADER (1:50) can take a tricky novice hurdle for Brian Hughes and Donald McCain. The gelding oozed class when hammering Parisencore at Carlisle.

There is plenty more to come and he should put a strong field to the sword.

The duo can add the closing bumper with SPECTACULAR GENIUS (5:15).

The five-year-old was unlucky to encounter the promising Heezer Geezer on debut at Doncaster. The gelding will have learned a lot so can gain compensation on the better going.

THE JAD FACTOR (2:25) can claim the Ladies Day Handicap Hurdle for Ayr ace Mike Smith.

The six-year-old built on some creditable efforts when bolting up from Get With It at Newcastle. The gelding wasn’t stopping at the business end over 2m 4f so he can defy a 4lb hike up in trip.

Lucinda Russell excels here so I’m backing IZZY’S CHAMPION (3:00) in the handicap chase.

The gelding showed a willing attitude to deny Clear The Runway at Musselburgh.

That race is working out well so the eight-year-old can shrug off a lenient 2lb rise.

SAINT ARVANS (4:10) looks divine for Maurice Barnes in the Le Garcon D’or Hurdle.
