Horse Power: Miami Girl can win the Weatherbys Super Sprint

can provide the Richard Hannon stable with another victory in the Weatherbys Super Sprint Stakes (GBB Race) (3.30pm) at Newbury on Saturday afternoon.

The Newmarket trainer’s father, Richard Hannon senior, specialised in taking the valuable five-furlong sprint – winning the feature at the Berkshire track seven times from Lyric Fantasy’s success in the second running of the race in 1991 to Monsieur Chevalier’s triumph in 2009. Since taking over the reigns at Herridge Racing Stables, Hannon junior has won it four times, including back-to-back runnings in the past two seasons with Happy Romance (2020) and Gubbass (2021).

Hannon has five runners in the 21-strong field but Miami Girl looks to be his best chance of victory.

The aforementioned can land another course and distance victory in the Group Three bet365 Hackwood Stakes (2.56pm).

As well as winning the Super Sprint in 2021, the Dandy Man filly also landed this race 12 months ago beating Diligent Harry by a neck.
