Hollyoaks' Jennifer Metcalfe opens on emotional farewell with co-star after 20 years

Hollyoaks legend Jennifer Metcalfe has finally spoken up about Jamie Lomas' poignant departure from the hit Channel 4 soap. The iconic duo have treaded the boards on and off for more than twenty years, bringing to life the tumultuous affair between fan-favourites Mercedes McQueen and Warren Fox. Their love story, however, has reached a climax with a twist thats as startling as it is final.

Warren, portrayed by Lomas, in a moment of desperation after gunning down his rival 'Blue' aka Dave Williams (played by Dominic Powell), disclosed to Mercedes his plans to vanish from the village forever a heartbreaking pivot from their dreams of a shared future. The bad boy confided his belief of eternal entrapment within a dangerous world, one where Mercedes and their twins could never truly be safe.

A scene charged with raw emotion unfolded as Mercedes, stricken with sorrow, listened to Warren's fervent pleas urging her to protect Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson) and Donny Clark (Louis Emetic) from the sinister machinations of Blue.

In a bittersweet adieu, Warren was whisked away in a vehicle, pockets lined with Fraser Black's wealth yet considerate enough to leave a sizeable portion behind for Mercedes to forge a new path for herself, reports the Mirror.

Reflecting on her times with Lomas, Jennifer shared: "Me and Jamie have worked together for over 20 years. We have such a solid friendship and we know each other inside and out and they've got history together as characters."

"It's a sad loss that I'm not going to get to work with him every day because it's easy. If you're having an off day, Jamie will carry you and vice versa. When you spend 10 or 11 hours together pretty much everyday you build a lovely relationship."
