Hibs weren't humiliated by Aston Villa as Unai Emery's men would see off Celtic and Rangers easily - Tam McManus

SOMETIMES you've just got to say the quiet part out loud.

If you are Hibs fans and expected to get any kind of result against Aston Villa then you're off your head. No offence and to use a famous quote. It's the economy, stupid! You would have to be deluded to believe a win was on the cards when you look at the gulf between the two clubs.

Here's some context, for every £1 Villa spend on wages, Hibs spend six pence. Their most recent annual outlay was £137 million and give or take a few bob, it was around £8.5 million out of the coffers at Easter Road. Let's be honest, everyone loves a glamour tie but this was the worst possible draw for Lee Johnson' s side. It was great financially, a full house and £1million banked from this European run but there was absolutely zero chance of Hibs getting through.

Unai Emery's side were ruthless in their execution and I'm backing them to go on and win the Europa Conference League as it will take a right good team to stop them. I'll go even further, they would beat Celtic and Rangers, and do it comfortably in my opinion.

I've read all the comments about Wednesday being an embarrassment and a humiliation but I don't agree, what transpired in the 5-0 defeat was what anyone with a bit of realism about them expected. Outclassed by a side which is bigger, stronger and far, far better.

When you have crosses continually coming into your box they can be difficult to stop. If Hibs can keep the scoreline down to under double figures over the two legs then they'll be doing well.

There's been questions asked as to why Hibs didn't go hell for leather and turn the game into a scrap to try and level things up. But that type of game has all but gone from football at the highest level.
