Hibs Europa Conference League draw as Lee Johnson Euro adventure to Faroe Islands OR Andorra

The path for Hibs to their potential Europa Conference League destinations has now been confirmed, with Lee Johnson's men set to face off with either Vikingur or Inter Club D'Escaldes.

Hibs will have to do it the hard way to reach the group stage of Europe's third tier competition, a tournament that their rivals Hearts forayed in to last season under Robbie Neilson. Easter Road hasn't seen continental football under the lights for some time after they finished fifth in the Scottish Premiership last season just two points behind their city rivals.

But now in the second qualifying round a trip to the Faroe Islands or to Andorra is on the cards for Johnson and co with the likes of big names Club Brugge and Rosenborg avoided due to the Hibees being seeded for the draw. They took their place in Group 5 but still faced extravagant potential trips to far away European locations and could have also ended up in Wales or England.

Connah’s Quay Nomads, for example, is a name Kilmarnock fans will want to forget as they knocked the Ayrshire outfit of the first qualifying round of the Europa League back in their 2019/20 campaign.

However the Hibees will kick off their campaign on July 26 or 27 with the first game being at home and the second has been confirmed as August 2 and 3. That comes just as the Scottish Premiership campaign gets underway. No doubt the Easter Road fans will be frantically checking flights and hotels as the news filters in to Leith.
