Hibs and Hearts a bit rich over ticket prices but their argument should still act as a trigger for change

Fair play to capital rivals Hearts and Hibs for joining forces to lobby the SFA over Scottish Cup semi final ticket prices.

A better deal for hard-hit supporters? Now there’s a campaign worthy of backing if ever there was one.

There’s no doubt that £35 for a top whack brief is steep - even if it’s the same as the price set for the Premier Sports semi-finals back in November.

A father and son heading through from the capital would be set back £50 plus the £21.30 for their train fare and that’s before a couple of pies, drinks, a programme and shot on the Mount Florida express to actually get you to the stadium is taken into account.

It’s a fiver hike on the last Scottish Cup semi finals that were attended by fans which makes the rivals’ concerns at a time when the cost of living is shooting through the roof even more justified.

There’s just one major flaw with their argument though.

And it’s so big that it’s easy to see why the Hibee-Hearts double act’s protestations were met with huge surprise at Hampden this week.

Cast your mind back just two months to the last meeting of Auld Reekie’s finest and you’ll find that briefs for the Main Stand at Easter Road were going for £35. Yes, exactly the same price for the expensive seats at Hampden next month.
