Heywood crash LIVE: Police at scene after 'car hits taxi' with one in hospital - updates

Emergency services have descended on a Heywood street following a dramatic crash this evening. Firefighters and police arrived on Fox Street following the smash, at around 6.20pm.

One person has been rushed to hospital following the incident tonight (February 15). A blue car and a minivan taxi were involved in the collision.

It's understood the blue car collided with the taxi, before hitting a lamppost at Taylor Street. Some of the car's occupants left the scene, the Manchester Evening News understands.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “At around 6.20pm this evening (Thursday, February 15), fire crews were called to reports of a road traffic collision between Taylor Street and Fox Street, Heywood. Two fire engines from Chadderton and Heywood and the technical response unit from Leigh, quickly attended the incident which involved two vehicles.

“Crews arrived quickly at scene and worked to make the vehicles and the area safe. One person was treated at the scene by colleagues from North West Ambulance service before being conveyed to hospital. Firefighters remain in attendance.”
