Herne Bay winger Jordan Ababio breaks leg during 4-2 Isthmian South East win over Beckenham Town

Herne Bay’s weekend win came at a big price.

Bay beat early Isthmian South East strugglers Beckenham 4-2 as first-half substitute Kamani McFarlane, on his injury return, bagged a brace while debutant Zaid Al-Hussaini and striker Alfie Bloomfield struck in a crazy opening 45 minutes at Winch’s Field.

Nine-goal top scorer McFarlane was only introduced after Jordan Ababio had collided with keeper James Batt. It has since been confirmed the 24-year-old former Folkestone and Margate winger sustained a broken leg.

Bay player-boss Liam Friend said: “I’m really disappointed for Jordan. Obviously, he’s really disappointed.

“I think Jordan will have a story to tell in 10 years’ time as not many people will believe that he broke his leg on someone’s head!

“It’s another injury to add to our list.

"Hopefully, we can start getting some of them back soon but Jordan will definitely be out for some time.”

Ababio wrote on social media: “Not how I thought this weekend would turn out, just come back from a hip flexor injury and now have broken my tibia.

"Thankfully, surgery’s complete and I’m more determined than ever.

"I will be back stronger.”

Ababio’s injury meant the early
