A newborn baby is fighting for life after their mother tragically fell from a tower block in Leeds. Emergency services rushed to the scene at the 17-storey Shakespeare Towers in Burmantofts on the morning of Tuesday, October 22, following reports of a heavily pregnant woman falling "from a height".

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police confirmed that officers were alerted to the incident by Yorkshire Ambulance Service at approximately 10.24am. The paramedics had responded to an emergency involving a woman "in the late stage of pregnancy" who had fallen from the apartment block.

Tragically, the woman, in her 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her baby was subsequently delivered at hospital and is now in a critical condition, reports Leeds Live.
