Dad left red-faced after falling while trying to stamp down on waste in wheelie bin

A dad was left red faced after ending up on his back while trying to stamp down on waste in a wheelie bin.

James Leigh, 45, from Sale, was trying to compress the garden waste to free up more space in the bin when he toppled over. His 15-year-old son Harry watched on, while he didn't receive much sympathy from his wife Louise.

She said: "When we saw the CCTV, it was just so funny. I sent it to all my friends. And they showed their friends." She said that James has now been banned from doing the same in future.

Louise Leigh, 45, only found out what had happened after popping outside to ask her the pair what they wanted for lunch. They then decided to check their CCTV footage, and discovered it had all been caught on camera.

Louise, a teacher, said: "I was in the house when James decided to stamp down the bin, which was full of twigs and branches. He stood on the wall of the house and then I think he just lost his balance as he stepped into the bin.

"Or it might have been weighted more to one side than the other. My son didn't even react, or come in and tell me.

"When I stepped outside to speak to them, James said 'I've just fallen out of the bin!'

The incident happened on October 26. James has since been banned from stamping down the bin again without someone stood beside him holding it stable. Louise said: "He was fine afterwards except his arms were a bit sore. But it could have been more serious."
