Hearts to be hammered by six figure Scottish Cup bill if they DON'T sell out tickets for Rangers clash

Hearts are facing a bill of up to six figures if they don’t sell out their Scottish Cup semi-final allocation.

The Jambos fought tooth and nail to secure a 50-50 split for their last four Hampden, with Tynecastle chiefs agreeing to cover the cost of any unsold tickets. But Record Sport understands that with less than two weeks to go until the Hampden showdown on Sunday, April 21, 5000 briefs have yet to be sold. And those will need to be paid for out of club coffers if punters don’t snap them up.

It’s also likely to affect future allocations at the national stadium, with an even split far less likely to be repeated for future meetings with the Old Firm if the capital club can’t shift enough tickets for this one. The demand from Rangers fans is high, with many set to miss out on the meeting with Steven Naismith's side.

And the Ibrox club will likely point to Hearts being unable to sell out half of Hampden when it comes to future ticket negotiations with the SFA if another 50/50 split is on the table for any future semi-finals.

Celtic take on Aberdeen in the other semi-final on Saturday April 20. However, the Dons have been given an allocation of 19,000, meaning the majority of briefs for that encounter have gone to the Parkhead outfit.
