Heartfelt tribute to 'loving' mum and gran-to-be killed in M6 hit-and-run

The heartbroken family of a mum and grandmother-to-be have paid tribute to her after she was killed in a hit-and-run on the M6 motorway.

Emergency services were first called over 'reports of concern for the safety of a woman' on the motorway between junction 21 and junction 21A, near Warrington, at around 12.15am yesterday (April 9). Tragically, they found a woman had been struck by a van on the M62 slip road.

She was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the white Citreon Relay van failed to stop, but was later arrested.

The woman has now been named as 52-year-old Lisa Kelsall from Norton in Stoke-on-Trent. In a tribute issued through Cheshire Police, her family said she was a grandma-to-be and was 'taken too soon'. "(A) Loving daughter, mother and grandmother to be, taken too soon", Lisa's family said.

"RIP Lisa Kelsall. Forever in our hearts."

The van driver - a 47-year-old man from Preston - was later arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has since been released under investigation, police added.

Officers are now urging any witnesses of the crash to come forward. They want to speak to anyone who saw Lisa's car, a white Vauxhall Mokka, travelling on the northbound side of the motorway between 11.30pm on Monday and midnight on Tuesday.

Officers also want to hear from anyone who has dash cam footage from the time of the incident. A stretch of the M6 motorway was closed off for several hours after the crash as accident investigation work was carried out.

Anyone with any information should report it to Cheshire Police quoting IML-1796179 via the Cheshire Police website or call 101. Information
