Heartbroken family remember 'bubbly and outgoing' mum found dead near River Roch

The family of a 'bubbly and outgoing' mum found dead near the River Roch have paid an emotional tribute to her.

Sharon Healey was tragically found dead in the morning of Sunday November 19 by officers searching the water near to the Goshen Playing Field, in Bury.

Officers had been called to reports of a concern for welfare of a female near the river in Bury on the Saturday (November 18), however did not find her body until the following morning. Her death is not being treated as suspicious.

Police and fire crews, along with water search teams, had been nearby the evening before, beside Newby Close, after first being called out at around around 5.15pm. Officers returned to the scene the following day, cordoned off a large area beside the water with a forensics tent also erected after Ms Healey was found.

Paying tribute, her family said: “Sharon was known as a bubbly, outgoing and caring person. She would offer time as a volunteer to help people in the community. She loved to attend social events with her friends and family.

“Sharon was a well-liked member of the community and local church. Her last achievement was completing a degree in criminology and psychology which she liked doing.

“Her youngest children said how much their mum enjoyed taking them to the park and in her spare times reading at home. She is sadly missed by her parents, children, brother, family and close friends. At this time, we ask for privacy while we grieve.”
