"He’s on Man United’s list" - Journalist drops big claim on John McGinn transfer

Journalist Pete O’Rourke believes that Manchester United could make a move to sign John McGinn from Aston Villa in the summer transfer window.

Ralf Rangnick’s side did not sign a single player in the January window but are likely to improve the squad when the season ends.

The club are making a concerted push to qualify for the Champions League this season.

Rangnick’s side are currently fourth but they find themselves in a unique position in the table.

United have two games in hand on third-placed Chelsea, and are just nine points behind the Blues, meaning they could move within three points if they win both.

However, they are also just one point clear of West Ham United in fifth, and two points ahead of both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur; the Gunners have one game in hand and Spurs have two.

It adds up to a highly volatile situation for Rangnick, with the manager likely to be aware that he can ill-afford a poor run of form.

Whether or not they qualify for the Champions League, United are likely to need reinforcements in the summer transfer window and O’Rourke believes that the club will attempt to sign two new midfielders.

As a result, he feels that a deal to sign McGinn could be “feasible” for the club, having previously been linked with a move for the Scotland international.

He told GiveMeSport: “I’m sure he’s on Man United’s list and we are expecting Man United to be in the market for two midfielders in the summer transfer window so that opens more possibilities and John McGinn could be a feasible target for them.”

He is a key man for Villa and has been since his arrival in 2018.
