"Definitely" - Journalist drops Spurs transfer claim on Paulo Dybala, Levy could sign him for free

Journalist Pete O’Rourke believes that Tottenham Hotspur will be interested in a deal to sign Paulo Dybala in the summer if he becomes available.

The Juventus star was heavily linked with a potential move to Spurs when Mauricio Pochettino was manager but the deal ultimately fell through after an issue with image rights derailed negotiations.

They strengthened the squad in the January transfer window by bringing in two players from Dybala’s current side.

Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur have both arrived from Juve, strengthening their squad as they attempt to qualify for the Champions League under the management of Antonio Conte.

Spurs are currently seventh in the Premier League table but they are just two points behind Manchester United in fourth, and have two games in hand on Ralf Rangnick’s side.

Those games come against Brighton & Hove Albion and Arsenal, and winning both would catapult Spurs into pole position to qualify for the Champions League.

It remains to be seen how heavily they will invest in the summer window but a deal to sign Dybala may be available, because the Argentina international’s contract is expiring.

Dybala, though, remains a key man for Juve, making 23 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring 11 goals and laying on five assists.

And O’Rourke believes that Spurs will almost certainly make a move to bring the forward into the club.

He told GiveMeSport: “I think Dybala, long-term target under Pochettino, I’m sure he will definitely be on the list in the summer but I think lots of clubs in Europe will be interested in the playmaker this summer on a free transfer, potentially.”
