'He's hard as nails' - What Sheffield United players think of new signing Filip Uremovic

Goalkeeper Wes Foderingham has praised Filip Uremovic for making an instant impact. The Croatian international has joined on a short-term deal until the end of the season after his contract with Russian club Rubin Kazan was suspended as a result of the invasion of Ukraine.

And his impact has been clear to see. He's fitted in comfortably and played a big part in successive clean sheets in the two games he has featured so far and his personality on and off the pitch has shone through.

His no nonsense approach to defending has seen him become an instant hit with Sheffield United fans but he's also making a big impression on his team-mates. Foderingham says he's just as popular inside the dressing room as he is with supporters.

"Yeah, he's a big character and he comes out with some random shouts before the game, which the boys chuckle at," he said.

"You can see straight away he has that passion and he has that drive. He's hard as nails and you can see it in the tackles. I think he's a great fit for us, it shows he has come into the side and we have kept two clean sheets in his two performances and I think he has done really, really well to deliver those types of performances as a new player.

"That's a sign of a very good footballer that he has settled in really quickly, you can see he understands football and his role in the team. He's performed admirably."

With Chris Basham and Charlie Goode out injured, Uremovic's signing was a shrewd move and came at an important time with United's injury crisis threatening to derail their promotion push.
