"He's got to follow through" - Journalist drops big Lage verdict after eye-catching Wolves claim

Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Bruno Lage is set to make a key formation change despite a backlash from players in the Molineux dressing room, according to journalist Dean Jones.

Lage was appointed as the West Midlands outfit’s head coach last summer and it seems he could shake-up the system ahead of his second season at the helm.

According to Football Insider, Wolves stars are protesting against Lage’s plans to implement a new formation.

The report suggests the Portuguese wants to move away from a three-man defence and begin deploying a back four instead, but some of the club’s stars are ‘pushing back’ against the plans.

Should Lage go ahead with his proposal, it would be a major change to Wolves’ set-up as they have started every match this season with three central defenders and wing-backs on either side.

Lage’s predecessor Nuno Espirito Santo regularly used a similar formation over the course of his 199 games in charge as well, so those currently at Molineux will have become accustomed to not playing with a flat back four.

The current system is a key reason for Wolves having six centre-halves on their books going into the final stages of the campaign.

Jones understands that Lage is keen to alter the system used for a number of years at Wolves and deploy a back four.

The transfer insider believes the 45-year-old needs to remain strong in his beliefs and not allow his players to alter his thinking.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “That’s his vision and that’s what he’ll go through with.

“At the end of the day, he’s got to follow through with what he believes is going to make him a success and even able to stay at this level of the Premier League.
