'He's got a knife, he's got a knife!': Horror as man repeatedly stabs police officer in hotel
A man has been jailed after repeatedly stabbing a police officer - who was only saved by his stab vest.
20-year-old Morgan Evans was reported missing by his mum following a row about his drug use, leading Lancashire Police to find him at a hotel in Chorley.
After negotiating with him on a fire escape, officers attempted to help him back inside but he launched a terrifying attack, producing a steak knife and stabbing out at the police sergeant numerous times.

Fortunately, the officer was wearing a stab vest but the blade was ultimately stopped by his phone in his pocket. The phone was left indented, Manchester Crown Court heard.
Evans, from Chorley, Lancashire, also hit out at another officer with the knife but was eventually detained and arrested. On Thursday (August 16) he was jailed after admitting attempted wounding.
Emma Kehoe, prosecuting, said the attack happened on January 17 this year, when Evans’ mum reported him as a missing person. There had been an argument between them the night before as he had been using cannabis at college, which led to him leaving the family home in a ‘distressed state’.
“Such was her concern as his mother, she rang the police to report him as a missing person, which came through to Chorley police station. There has been a history of this type of concern,” Ms Kehoe said.
An officer began conducting a number of enquiries, which led to him to call Evans on his mobile phone. During the call, Evans said he was at Manchester Airport and was intending to take a flight to Norway.
He then said if he couldn’t get there he would get a flight to Syria and said that he was going to ‘join ISIS’.
