"He's going to do something": Pervert targeted lone women... including mum pushing pram - by spraying them with 'white substance'

A pervert targeted lone women, including a woman pushing a pram, by spraying a white substance at them. Onke Mvelasa was seen using a syringe to squirt the liquid at one woman in Wythenshawe, before he smeared it on two further victims in Wilmslow months later.

The women were left disgusted and feeling uneasy in their day to day lives, Manchester Crown Court heard. One of them said: "In 2023 women should feel safe enough to walk in the street without the fear they are going to be touched without their consent."

Mvelesa, 27, from Wythenshawe, has been locked up and told he poses a ‘real risk to women’. He has previous convictions for almost identical offences. Prosecuting, William Staunton told how a woman was walking along the road in Wythenshawe on her way to work in October last year when Mvelesa struck.

She was unaware of what was happening behind her but a witness, who knew Mvelesa and was aware of his criminal history, became suspicious after seeing him. "He's going to do something," the witness prophetically said.

Mvelesa then produced a syringe and squirted a 'white substance' onto her back. After it landed on her bag, Mvelesa then threw more of the substance at her using a 'flicking' motion.

She was still unaware of what was happening until the witness approached and said 'don't be alarmed', and told her what had occurred. She tried to brush off the incident and carry on her day but soon became panicked, and was driven home by a kind-hearted member of the public.
