'He's a technician', Eddie Howe ponders whether to start Bruno Guimaraes in Aston Villa clash

Eddie Howe must decide whether to start new boy Bruno Guimaraes in Newcastle United's huge clash against Aston Villa.

Howe had 50,000 fans calling for the classy Brazil international midfielder to be thrust into action from the hour mark onwards in the 3-1 win over Everton.

By starting Bruno, Howe would face a selection dilemma with Joelinton, Jonjo Shelvey and Joe Willock all playing incredibly well in the victory against the Toffees.

Geordie fans loved Bruno's elegant backheel during his injury time cameo but it remains to be seen whether Howe continues to ease the former Lyon ace in gradually.

Speaking about Bruno after the Everton game, Howe said: "He's a technician.

"You saw from his cameo that he's confident in his ability, which is great, and I think he is going to be an outstanding player for the club for many years.

"It will take him time to get to the pace of the Premier League but he is not afraid to mix it.

"I think the fans will really take to him."

Spirits are high that Newcastle can continue their run of form against Villa on Sunday.

For all Steven Gerrard's plaudits, the second city side demonstrated they can be exposed defensively during a 3-3 draw with Leeds in midweek.

Howe feels Newcastle are in the mood to make it three wins on the spin.

He said: "There is a good feeling in the dressing room, confidence levels are building.

"Our navigating of the game in tight situations has improved.

"I hope to see a big psychological effect from this win."
