"He'll be back in tonight": Journalist reveals "big lift" for Everton vs Burnley

Anthony Gordon will return to Everton’s starting line-up against Burnley at Turf Moor, according to Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.

The Toffees head to Lancashire on Wednesday, knowing that they need a positive result to ease their relegation fears.

Gordon only turned 21 in February, but he has already established himself as one of the brightest prospects at Everton.

This season, he has made 25 league appearances for the club, and has five goal involvements to his name.

Since Frank Lampard arrived in late January, the former Chelsea boss has shown plenty of faith in Gordon, and started him in each of his first seven top-flight matches at the helm.

However, the youngster was surprisingly dropped to the bench for Everton’s trip to West Ham on Sunday, and he was only introduced to the action with 12 minutes to go.

Lampard opted to go with a front three of Demarai Gray, Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin on Sunday, but Brown thinks he will change it up against Burnley.

He is tipping Gordon to come back into the side for the crucial clash with Sean Dyche’s team.

When asked if he thought Gordon would be named in the starting XI, Brown told GIVEMESPORT: “I’d be surprised if he isn’t. He’s been one of Everton’s most important players this season, and Lampard’s clearly been very impressed with him since he came in.

“I think he’ll be back in tonight and will give them a big lift.”

If Everton can beat Burnley on Wednesday, they will open up a six-point gap between themselves and the bottom three. Gordon could be key to helping them pick up all three points.
