"Hasn't quite done it" - Journalist casts fresh doubt over 39-cap Leeds star's future

Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich may face an uncertain future at the club, according to The Mirror’s David Anderson.

Klich has been a regular in the Leeds first-team over the past five years, including during an initial loan spell, but he had an underwhelming 2021/22 campaign.

In his first season in the Premier League in 2020/21, Klich chipped in with four goals and five assists as Leeds finished in ninth place under Marcelo Bielsa.

He was unable to replicate those numbers last term, though, as he only registered a solitary goal and two assists in the top-flight, with Jesse Marsch’s men only avoiding relegation on the final day.

According to WhoScored, he was only Leeds’ 16th-best season across the course of the campaign, receiving an average game rating of just 6.37.

Anderson has pointed out that Klich was criticised for his performances by his own fans earlier in the season.

He has now hinted that Klich could struggle to get into the starting XI next season after the club wrapped up the signing of Brenden Aaronson from Red Bull Salzburg.

When asked whether Klich’s Leeds future is in doubt, Anderson told GIVEMESPORT: “I’d say so. He hasn’t quite done it, and don’t forget he’s someone that’s been singled out by the fans for abuse on social media. Remember after the Chelsea defeat just before Christmas, and he actually hit back at them, which isn’t what you really want to see.

“You look around that dressing room, and I think someone like Klich, he’s willing enough and he’s trying but he’s just not really delivering.”

Back in November 2020, Bielsa claimed that Klich was capable of playing for “all the best teams in the world” after he
