Harvey Cartwright shares message with Hull City supporters after signing new deal

Hull City goalkeeper Harvey Cartwright has taken to Instagram to share a message with the club’s supporters after signing a new deal at the MKM Stadium.

As confirmed by Hull’s official website yesterday, the 20-year-old has committed his long-term future to the club by signing a four-year deal.

The Tigers will have the option to extend his stay for a further year.

A product of Hull’s academy, Cartwright was handed his league debut by head coach Shota Arveladze in February after Matt Ingram suffered an injury during the club’s clash with Queens Park Rangers.

The keeper went on to start for the Tigers in their meeting with Barnsley before being forced to watch on from the sidelines for the remainder of the campaign due to the presence of Ingram and Nathan Baxter.

With Baxter set to officially return to Chelsea when his loan deal expires at the end of May, Cartwright will be hoping to stake a claim for a regular spot in Hull’s starting eleven by impressing in pre-season.

After Hull announced the news that Cartwright is set to stay at the club for the foreseeable future, the shot-stopper admitted on Instagram that he was delighted to sign a new contract.

Cartwright posted: “Delighted to have signed a new contract @hullcity, can’t wait for the future at this great club!”

The Verdict

This is a sensible bit of business by the Tigers as they clearly believe that Cartwright has the potential to become a key player at the club in the coming years.

Having made three senior appearances during his career, it will be interesting to see whether the keeper will be able to overtake Ingram in the pecking order at Hull next season.
