Harry Maguire makes admission over Manchester United playing time and sets target for season

Harry Maguire admits it is only natural to be disappointed by a lack of playing time for Manchester United this season, but insists he is fully focused on bringing success to the club in the final months of the campaign. The 30-year-old returned to the United line-up for their weekend win over Everton, in what was just his 13th start of the season.

Maguire impressed against a rather blunt opposition attack, and in the process, he extended his remarkable record of playing in 10 consecutive wins for United.

The England international's feat is boosted by the fact that he has largely been drafted in to play against weaker opposition, though there is not much more that he can do than help his team win.

Speaking after the win over Everton, Maguire admitted it has been hard not to start most matches this season, but acknowledged the battle for places at the club.

"Listen, I’m not going to stand here and say I love it, or that I like it. I don’t," he told reporters. "I want to play every game and I have done for the last eight years of my career. Also I have to respect the manager and his decisions and also respect how good the competition is at centre-back at this club. It is, and I believe that.

"Listen, when I get my chance I want to perform, I want to win and most importantly for the team have an influence on the game. Of course I want to play every game and I’m sure if you spoke to our centre-backs in their roles, they are all experienced and have played at the top level and will all be disappointed when sat on the bench. That is the same for me."

It is understood Maguire could be allowed to leave United in the summer if an appropriate offer
