Harry Kane ‘willing to snub Manchester United summer interest’ and more transfer rumours

Harry Kane is reportedly open to the prospect of turning down summer transfer offers to run down his Tottenham contract ahead of a move next year.

The England captain is Manchester United’s top target for the upcoming window with Erik ten Hag in need of a prolific goalscoring centre-forward. However, Daniel Levy is expected to play a tough negotiator this summer to try and put interested parties off a purchase.

The Manchester Evening News understands that United are reluctant to play the long game with Tottenham with the Reds needing to know they can get a marquee signing in before deadline day.

Reports suggest that Levy will hold out for £100m for his club’s all-time top scorer. However, Kane would be able to leave for free next summer with just over 12 months remaining on his contract.

This factor could persuade Levy to sell up this off-season rather than receive nothing next year. The Telegraph claims that Kane is meanwhile not against the idea of seeing out his deal so he is not under the dictation of Levy and is free to make a decision of his own accord.

Kane turns 30 in the summer and is yet to lift a trophy despite being all-time top scorer for club and country. Tottenham are also likely to miss out on Champions League football next season.

It means he would be 31 at the earliest the next time he plays in the competition, if a summer exit is not secured. His yearning for a trophy and his age could be decisive factors in his decision over his future.
