Harry Kane addresses transfer speculation amid Manchester United interest

Harry Kane insists he is focusing on representing England and then enjoying a summer break as speculation over his future intensifies.

The 29-year-old netted twice as his Tottenham side beat Leeds United 4-1 on the final day of the season, a brace that took him to 30 league goals for the season. However, despite his personal success, Spurs endured another underwhelming campaign and failed to qualify for any form of European football.

United are interested in signing Kane this summer, with Erik ten Hag making the England international his prime target. Speculation over the striker's future will dominate headlines throughout the summer, but he is not thinking that far ahead.

RATINGS: De Gea and Malacia good in Fulham win

"It has been a disappointing season," Kane told BT Sport. "We can't let this win dust over that. A lot to work on. We have had to show fight in some moments. A club this size should not be finishing eighth and we need to go away, enjoy a break and look how we can improve.

"It is part and parcel of being a footballer [speculation about leaving] especially when you are at the top of your game. I have focused on this season and helping the team as much as possible. I am just looking forward to a nice break and some games with England."

Despite Kane having only 12 months left on his contract, chairman Daniel Levy has remained stubborn in refusing to budge on Kane. United are now operating under the assumption that he will not allow the forward to leave.

Interest in Kane has not ended, but the club are exploring alternative options so as not to end up stuck in a transfer saga.
