Hampton & Richmond manager Alan Dowson leaves by mutual consent after 2-0 home defeat by Ebbsfleet United
Hampton & Richmond manager Alan Dowson has left the club following their defeat to Ebbsfleet at the weekend.
The former Dartford and Woking boss was in his second spell at The Beveree, having rejoined the club last December and steering them to National League South safety.
However, the 2-0 loss to Ebbsfleet on Saturday was their seventh reverse in 11 games. They are in the relegation zone with just eight points and were knocked out of the FA Cup by Crowborough.
Hampton said that Dowson is leaving by “mutual consent” and Hampton & Richmond chair Ben Hudson said: “Alan deserves our sincere thanks for everything he has done for the Beavers, both on and off the pitch.
“He has given us many great memories, and everyone at the Bev joins me in thanking him. ”
Investor Group chairman Scott Forbes said: “Dowse is a respected manager and a tireless ambassador for the Club and the community. We hope to welcome him and his family back to Beveree soon and wish them all the very best.”
Dowson took charge of Dartford in May 2022 and steered the club to second place in his first season – 20 points behind champions Ebbsfleet. The Darts were then beaten on penalties by St Albans in the play-off semi-finals.
He was sacked by the Darts in January 2024 with the club 16th in the table, seven points from the play-offs and 10 points above the relegation zone.
