Hamilton, Verstappen, Leclerc: F1 drivers ranked by how much they earn per lap

Lewis Hamilton will earn the most amount of money during this weekend’s Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.

It is perhaps unsurprising due to the fact that the British driver is a seven-time world champion, but it is interesting how much more he earns than anybody else.

Hamilton tops the list and will pocket an incredible £21,934 per completed lap this weekend.

Current world champion Max Verstappen appears second on the list with £13,709 per lap, which is over £8,000 less than his big rival.

Two-time world champion Fernando Alonso and McLaren’s Lando Norris share third place in the study, they will take home £10,967 for each successful lap.

The 22-year-old Norris is yet to win a race in his Formula One career, so it is a surprise that he is so high up despite his obvious promise.

Sebastian Vettel and Daniel Ricciardo occupy joint-fourth place and they are expected to receive £8,225 per completed lap on Sunday.

This year’s pace setter Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc is next on the list, but if he keeps up his fine form then he can expect to earn much more when his next contract comes along.

It will take Leclerc just over three completed laps to earn as much as one lap from Hamilton because the Frenchman is predicted to receive £6,580 each lap.

Valtteri Bottas, Lance Stroll and Carlos Sainz Jr will all earn £5,483 according to the research.

Red Bull’s Sergio Perez is next, followed by Haas’ Kevin Magnussen, but they both still receive a handy salary.

Esteban Ocon, Mercedes’ George Russell and Pierre Gasly share joint-ninth position in the list.

Alexander Albon
