Hamilton Accies midfielder details return timeline after injury woes

Midfielder Marley Redfern is targeting a mid-July comeback from injury, as he hopes to play a part in Hamilton Academical’s bid to return straight back to the Championship season.

The 20-year-old has a year left on his contract at New Douglas Park after watching on helpless from the sidelines at the end of last season during the club’s relegation to League One.

Accies return to the training pitch on Wednesday, but Redfern admits it is likely more than a month before he is back amongst the squad.

“I’m the only one injured at the moment so it’s just me around the place until next week.

“It has been a nightmare and it was a bit difficult to watch on [from the stands], because I couldn’t do anything to help the team.

“I’ve been in pretty much every day, focusing on my mobility because I’m still in the early stages.

“I’m not doing any running yet and I’ll have a bit to do on my fitness as well, if I’m going to miss a bit of pre-season.”
