Hamilton Accies and Clyde enter groundsharing agreement after council row sparked by David Goodwillie re-signing
Clyde will soon play home matches at Hamilton Accies' New Douglas Park - and will play their last match at Broadwood this weekend..
The Bully Wee are set to exit their home in Cumbernauld after North Lanarkshire Council made clear they would not renew the League One club's deal to play at the council-owned facility.
That stemmed from a public row following the re-signing of David Goodwillie from Raith Rovers, who in the civil court was deemed to have raped a woman in 2017.
Goodwillie was sold to Raith in the January transfer window before being loaned back to Clyde after fan backlash.
North Lanarkshire Council made it clear Goodwillie was banned from the stadium and then signalled they would be letting the lease for Broadwood expire in May 2023.
But with Hamilton offering up their ground in a surprise statement on Thursday night they say Clyde will begin playing there as soon as July, though a statement from the Bully Wee makes it clear they will play their final game in Cumbernauld on Saturday against Airdrieonians.
