Chatham Town Women take on Bowers & Pitsea Ladies in the final of the Isthmian Women’s League Cup at Billericay Town’s New Lodge ground after Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Queens Park Rangers

Chatham Town Women will look to bounce back from their weekend disappointment by winning a trophy.

Manager Keith Boanas was less than impressed with the team’s first-half performance at Queens Park Rangers on Sunday in a game that finished 2-2.

Now the focus turns to trying to clinch some silverware tonight (Wednesday).

Chatham won the Isthmian League Women’s Cup last season with a 5-0 victory over Billericay Town at New Lodge and they head to the same ground to face another Essex side in this year’s final.

Eastern Region Premier Division side Bowers & Pitsea are their opponents this time around.

Following their weekend league draw, Boanas said: ““I was really disappointed with how we performed in the first half.

“I will hang onto that until Wednesday and see what happens there.”

Boanas had selected the same outfield players on Sunday who had performed so well the week before, winning 2-1 away at Norwich City - but he didn’t get the same display this time around.

His team struggled in the first half and had to twice come from behind to draw 2-2.

It was a better second half, with goals from Lottie Sharp and Ciara Hynes, but Boanas was left unhappy after the poor first 45.

“We deserved a point but I was bitterly disappointed with the first half performance,” said the manager.

“Quite a few didn’t perform to their levels - it was a shadow of the team that I had seen the previous week.

“In other circumstances, you go away to a place like that and be okay - but I’m not.

“We underperformed. Had we performed well and they played well and it was a point each and hard fought game, that’s different.”

The point lifted Chatham up to third place in the Division 1 South East table.

It’s a 7.45pm kick-off at Billericay for Wednesday
