Guess the Grid: 2007 United States Grand Prix

The last time Formula 1 went racing round the Indianapolis Motor Speedway was in 2007. For this F1 quiz, can you name the starting grid for the race that day?

Formula 1 has raced in the United States 42 times in the World Championship era, and has been competed at six different circuits, under the name of the United States Grand Prix.

That does need to be stated as in the past, the F1 circus has gone to other tracks in America, but they have not been the United States Grand Prix.

The most recent example of such is the Miami Grand Prix.

The current United States GP is competed at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, and has been on the calendar since 2012.

Prior to the race that season, there had been a four-season gap where F1 didn’t go to America.

The last race in that time was in the 2007 season, where they used to go racing round one of America’s most iconic circuits – the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The USGP was competed in Indianapolis from 2000 to 2007, and in its earlier years it provided a number of controversial moments (we may have to revisit 2005 sometime).

By the time the 2007 edition came around, it looked like the writing was on the wall for this iconic track and its place on the F1 calendar.

Despite efforts to bring it back the next season, F1 hasn’t been back since.
