Griselda on Netflix: Cast, episode count and time new Sofia Vergara drama drops

Sofia Vergara's latest project is set to drop on Netflix very soon. The actress, 51, is best known for playing Gloria Delgado-Pritchett in the award-winning American sitcom Modern Family.

Now, she takes on the role of real-life Colombian drug lord Griselda Blanco in the new series, simply titled Griselda. The show charts her rapid uprising and unfortunate downfall, after launching from obscurity to become 'The Godmother' of the Miami cocaine underworld in the 1970s.

The new series comes from Narcos and Narcos: Mexico showrunner Eric Newman, who also teamed up with Narcos director Andrés Baiz. Fans previously called for Sofia, who serves as executive producer, to win an award for her portrayal based on the show's trailer alone - which you can watch below.

The six-parter also stars former Narcos and Narcos: Mexico actors as well as a well-known Colombian popstar. Read on to find out more about Griselda, including when and what time it drops in the UK, the full cast and more.

The new series drops at 8am on Thursday January 25 in the UK. All six, hour-long episodes will be available to watch at once.

Griselda tells the story of a devoted mother who created one of the most profitable cartels in history. Growing up in Medellin, Colombia but eventually moving to Miami, USA, she was prominent in the cocaine drug trade from the 70s until the early 2000s.

Newman said of the story: "There has never been a woman who came close to achieving the power, wealth, and respect that Griselda did. And no trafficker, woman or man, ever elicited the same level of fear."
