Greg Taylor targets Celtic title sprint as he reveals final points target ahead of Rangers

Greg Taylor says Celtic want to sprint over the Premiership winning line.

But the Parkhead defender is adamant the squad are refusing to look beyond Sunday’s showdown with Rangers as his team edge towards the title.

Ange Postecoglou ’s team are on the brink of glory with a six-point lead in the table and just four matches remaining.

The trophy is within reach and the Scotland left-back says the group are determined to be strong through the last 360 minutes of their campaign.

At the same time, Taylor has also made it crystal clear he and his team-mates won’t budge from their tried-and-tested philosophy of looking at only the next immediate challenge and won’t entertain a single thought of winning the title until the job is officially done.

He said: “We have four big league games and we want to sprint across the finishing line by winning all four.

“But the focus is purely on the next one. We want three points with another strong performance.

“We know that there are 12 points to play for and that is a lot of points.

“We have done alright so far keeping with those beliefs, so we will stick with them.”

With a heavy goal difference of 19 in their favour at this stage, Celtic have a massive opportunity to virtually clinch the trophy on Sunday.

Victory over Rangers on home soil would mean only a mathematical freak over the final three matches could deny them the flag.

Celtic were beaten in extra-time nine days ago by Giovanni van Bronckhorst ’s men in the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup.
