Greater Manchester weather forecast hour by hour, borough by borough - as parts of region hit with TWO warnings

Greater Manchester is set for a wet and windy day with two weather warnings in force across some areas. Forecasters are expecting spells of heavy rain across the whole region throughout Saturday (December 9).

In some areas of Greater Manchester, a yellow weather warning has been issued for rain. It covers Bury, Oldham, Rochdale and Tameside, plus parts of Bolton and Manchester.

The Met Office says: "A band of rain will move across the area this morning, followed by a drier interlude, then heavy showers again this evening." Drivers are warned to take care on roads, while some travel may be disrupted and flooding is 'likely' for some, the Met Office warns.

The warning came into effect at 8am today and lasts until 3am tomorrow. However, while other areas are not hit by the warning, all parts of Greater Manchester are expected to see a particularly wet day.

A yellow weather warning for strong winds is also in force for the whole region, from 9am until 11.45pm today. The Met Office says this could also cause disruption to travel, power and other services.

With a dramatic forecast across the region, residents will need to be prepared for a wet and windy day when heading out on what is usually a busy Saturday in the run-up to Christmas. Here's the forecast for each Greater Manchester borough.
