Greater Manchester weather forecast for this weekend as region set to bask in glorious sunshine

It might finally be time to put the big coat away this weekend.

Greater Manchester has been hit by its fair share of weather warnings in recent weeks and months. The region has been hit by flooding, strong winds and freezing temperatures since the start of 2022.

But this weekend the weather is finally starting to improve, with glorious sunshine and warm temperatures expected to last throughout the weekend and into next week.

According to the Met Office, the forecast is expected to be dry with "plenty of sunshine." "Chilly nights and mornings, with local frost and fog at first, but feeling warm during the afternoons in the sunshine," they said.

Bright spells are due to start on Friday (18 March) and expected to last all day, with temperatures reaching highs of 14 degrees. By Saturday, the city's beer gardens are likely to be packed out as glorious sunshine is due to last all day. Temperatures are expected to rise to highs of 15 degrees by 3pm in the afternoon.

Temperatures start to drop a little by Sunday, but the sunny weather is due to stick around. Highs of 12 degrees and lows of 4 degrees are forecast.

Into next week, and the sunny and warm weather looks like it might stay for a while - hopefully signalling that Spring has finally arrived in Greater Manchester. The Met Office's long forecast says between Sunday (20 March) and Tuesday (29 March), most places will see dry and sunny conditions once early morning fog clears.

"Areas of the far north and south may see more cloud with some isolated showers possible in the far southwest by Sunday evening," they said. "For the rest of the period most areas continue to remain mostly dry
