Greater Manchester weather forecast for the rest of the Bank Holiday weekend

It's been a pretty dismal Bank Holiday weekend so far here in Greater Manchester. Thunderstorms on Saturday evening meant events at Pride had to temporarily halted, while Future Islands, who were supporting Noel Gallagher at his huge Wythenshawe Park gig, also left the stage mid-set, telling fans they were taking a break due to the weather.

And Sunday didn't get off to the best of starts either, with heavy rain across the region. But don't give up on that barbecue or afternoon in the beer garden just yet as things could be about to get a bit better.

Met Office forecasters say the rain should start to ease off by mid-afternoon, with a mainly dry outlook for the rest of the day. And Bank Holiday Monday looks like it could be quite nice.

The day starts off sunny, before clouding over slightly later. Temperatures are predicted to reach a high of 18C by 1pm, just in time for the pubs opening.

And just as importantly it looks like it's going to be a largely dry day, although there is a slight chance of the odd shower. Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist Steven Keates said: "Monday, which is a Bank Holiday for those in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, will probably see band of showery rain clear from eastern England early in the day, with sunny spells and scattered showers following on for most places.

"There are no signals for significant heat in the current forecast period."
