Greater Manchester's forecast amid cold weather with 'wintry showers' to hit

Those hoping to see more of last week's sunshine in Greater Manchester will be disappointed, with grey skies and cold weather forecast this week.

There will be some signs of the sun early this week but the majority of the time it will be cloudy and temperatures will just stretch to double figures before improving by the weekend. The Met Office forecast predicts a week of 'sunshine and showers, which may turn wintry over the hills in north west England.' Across the UK, temperatures will be 'colder than average.'

Monday (April 24) is set to be cloudy in Greater Manchester, with spells of grey, overcast cloud and temperatures peaking at 10C. The forecaster said conditions would feel 'colder than of late with a northeasterly breeze' while temperatures will drop to 2C overnight.

The sky will soon turn cloudy, with pockets of sunny intervals in the evening. Temperatures will peak in the afternoon at around 11C, with lows that day of just 5C.

Wednesday and Thursday will remain dry but wall-to-wall cloud can be expected, turning overcast at times. Temperatures will get slightly more mild, with highs of 11C on Wednesday and 13C on Thursday.

Rain will fall overnight into the small hours of Friday, changing to overcast by the late morning. Conditions will become cloudy just after lunchtime, making way for a partly-cloudy night. Temperatures will peak at 14C and there will be lows of 9C.
