Greater Manchester mayoral election 2024 results in full

People across the region have taken part in the Greater Manchester mayoral election.

It is the third time the election for a Mayor of Greater Manchester has taken place with Andy Burnham being elected in 2017 and then again in 2021. Tony Lloyd had held the position on an interim basis from 2015 to 2017.

All registered electors living in Greater Manchester - including the boroughs of Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Manchester, Tameside, Trafford, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport and Wigan - aged 18 or over were eligible to vote in the mayoral election

Mayors are typically elected for a period of four years, with no limit to the number of terms served. The candidates who stood in this year's mayoral election were Jake Austin (Liberal Democrats), Dan Barker (Reform UK), Nick Buckley (Independent), Andy Burnham (Labour), Laura Evans (Conservative) and Hannah Spencer (Green).

The mayor of Greater Manchester has powers and responsibilities in relation to transport, economic development, provision of skills training and housing. The role includes the responsibilities of the police and crime commissioner.

The vote took place simultaneously with local elections which are taking place across England.

Polls closed at 10pm on Thursday, May 2 with the count taking place on Saturday, May 4. The results will be shown below when they have been announced after 4pm on Saturday.

The Greater Manchester mayoral election was held on the same day as the local elections, with more than 2,500 council seats up for grabs across 107 local authorities in England.
