Greater Manchester area scoops £3.2m in People's Postcode Lottery

A postcode area in Greater Manchester has managed to snag a hefty lottery prize of £3.2 million.

Hundreds of people in Altrincham's WA15 9 postcode were revealed to be the special winners of the People's Postcode Lottery. The huge prize will be spread out between houses across the postcode, with each contestant grabbing at least £5,000 each.

The winning residents will be told exactly how much they've bagged during a special event at The Bowdon Rooms on Friday, March 29. During the event, the full winning postcode will also be revealed, the residents of which will take the largest cash prize home.

People's Postcode Lottery ambassador Judie McCourt said: "I’m sure players in Altrincham will be buzzing with excitement for Friday night, and eager to find out how much they’ve won. I can’t wait to meet all the lucky winners and celebrate in typical Postcode Lottery style.

"What a way to start the spring!”

Players can sign up their postcode and pay £12 per month to take part in the daily draws and 33 per cent of every ticket purchased goes to charity. A daily prize of £1,000 is up for grabs, which can double to £2,000 if players have two tickets - and then people can triple winnings if they have three tickets.

The organisation has raised more than £1billion for charities across the UK since the lottery was founded in 2005. A spokesperson for People's Postcode Lottery said: "Each weekend, players in two postcodes get lucky and collect whopping wins with our Saturday and Sunday Street Prizes. Meanwhile, every month all players in a postcode sector pick up fantastic cheques in our Postcode Millions."
