'Great things' - Diego Carlos details exciting Aston Villa plan
Diego Carlos says claims Aston Villa can achieve 'great things' following his £26m arrival from Sevilla.
The Brazilian aims to adapt quickly to the Premier League after completing his transfer to Villa last week. He seemed destined for a big-money move to the English top-flight since January, having been strongly linked to Newcastle United for some time, but the Toon couldn't complete a deal and missed out.
Steven Gerrard and Villa's recruitment team then took advantage of Sevilla's weak financial situation to steal a march on their competition as they landed Carlos for a fraction of the price which Newcastle were quoted back in January. And the 29-year-old is confident that he can adjust to life in the Premier League no trouble.
"Well, all the countries that I have passed through, the teams across Europe, I've always adapted quickly," Carlos told Villa TV. "I have competed in all these countries, played a lot of games and now I'm in a new stage.
"And the truth is, as you have experience in three different countries, of course you can bring that with you. And I hope with the experience I have in these three countries, I can impress my teammates and the club, we can achieve great things."
Carlos followed Boubacar Kamara through the door at Villa as the club made a quick start to the summer transfer window, which opened on Friday. Villa have announced four deals so far, as Philippe Coutinho and Robin Olsen have also signed permanent contracts following their respective loan moves.
