Gravesend's Georgia-Mae Fenton helps Great Britain's women to historic artistic team gold at European Gymnastics Championships in Turkey

Gravesend's Georgia-Mae Fenton has added yet another medal to her collection with a historic first artistic team gold for Great Britain's women at the European Gymnastics Championships.

Fenton, Alice Kinsella, Jessica Gadirova, Ondine Achampong and Becky Downie showed great skill and cool heads under pressure for a combined score of 164.428 points and the gold medal ahead of Italy and the Netherlands in Turkey.

It means Fenton has now won team gold at the Commonwealth Games and Euros and team silver at the European Sports Championships and World Championships in less than a year.

The British team’s competition began on beam, Fenton counting one fall to score 12.333, and on floor an elegant routine scored 12.9.

On vault the team nailed their landings, Fenton scoring 13.733, and on the uneven bars she soared, scoring 13.833.

Fenton's gold followed Courtney Tulloch's men's team bronze on Tuesday.

Tulloch, from Maidstone, joined forces with Jake Jarman, Luke Whitehouse, Adam Tobin and Joshua Nathan to finish behind Italy and Turkey.

“I just feel so happy,” said Tulloch, the senior member of the squad. “It’s a new team and we weren’t really fully sure what to expect.

“I’m so proud of the way the team have pulled together. It’s a fantastic result for this group and we’re all delighted.”

Fenton will be aiming for another podium in Friday's all-around Final.
