Grand National 2024 weights and runners as full list of entries confirmed

The full list of entries and weights for the Grand National 2024 at Aintree has been revealed.

King George VI Chase winner, Hewick, has been given the top weight of 11st12lb out of the remaining 87 entries in the £1million Randox Grand National. The race will take place at Aintree Racecourse on April 13.

Hewick could be aiming for a daring double win with the Boodles Cheltenham Gold Cup and the Grand National. Last year's Aintree champion, Corach Rambler, trained by Lucinda Russell, will carry 11st2lb.

He hopes to become the 10th horse to win the world's greatest steeplechase twice in just over seven weeks' time. The British Horseracing Authority's senior Jump handicapper, Martin Greenwood, has framed the weights for the fifth year running.

They were announced at the traditional lunch at St George's Hall in Liverpool city centre. Trainers, owners, racing personalities and some well-known faces from Merseyside were present.

Shark Hanlon's nine-year-old Hewick, who won the Grade One King George VI Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day, will carry the top weight. But first, he will compete in the Gold Cup at next month's Cheltenham Festival, where his odds are 16-1.

Hewick is generally priced at 33-1 for the Grand National. He was also entered at this stage last year but had to withdraw due to injury.

Trainer Hanlon has shared that Hewick "probably deserves" the top weight as he aims to be the first horse in 90 years to win both the Cheltenham Gold Cup and Grand National in the same season. Hanlon commented: "I knew he'd have top weight. You have to expect that. He probably deserves top weight. I think the trip will suit him. He's going for the Gold Cup first and please God he comes out of the Gold Cup safe and if he does
