Graeme Murty in epic Rangers callback as he offers sympathy to upside down Pep Guardiola

It's an era rivals of Rangers gleefully call 'The Banter Years' and perhaps former boss Graeme Murty performing a backwards handstand against Dundee would make the front cover of any compilation.

The former Scotland international ended up on his noggin with his legs aloft after Harry Forrester missed a gilt-edged chance during a defeat to Dundee at Dens Park back in 2017. And Murty remembered his own plight when he shared his sympathy with Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola who ended upside down after Tottenham's late leveller in Sunday's 3--3 thriller at the Etihad. Guardiola collapsed to the turf and Murty, posting on X, joked: "Feeling his pain...."

Murty spoke earlier this year he has been left mortified by the incident which became a meme as the former Rangers interim boss lost his way in the City of Discovery. He said: "As you go backwards, like: 'Im going to go here. Right I'm going to turn it into a roll back over and a handstand out', and it didn't work. The worst part of it is, you're mortified because you've done that.

"David McCallum never noticed. So he's next to me. If you look at any of the photos, he's next to me.

"He had no idea that it had happened and I tried to play it off. Obviously everyone got it on camera so as a professional, you're mortified you've done it."
