Good Morning Britain viewers 'switch off' as ITV presenter returns to show after break

Good Morning Britain viewers were quick to express their opinions as Richard Madeley made his return to the screen following an extended break.

During Monday's instalment of the popular ITV breakfast show, regular host Susanna Reid was joined by co-presenter Richard.

The 68 year old TV veteran had been absent from GMB for several weeks, during which time the programme underwent some changes with various show regulars stepping in to fill his shoes.

In Richard's absence, ITV viewers saw a rotating cast of hosts including Ed Balls and Martin Lewis, while Kate Garraway shared presenting duties with TV judge, Rob Rinder.

Upon his return to GMB, Richard skipped any mention of his time away and immediately got stuck into the day's agenda, teasing what was coming up on the show, reports the Mirror.

While some viewers welcomed Richard back with open arms, others were not so pleased. Social media platforms lit up as viewers didn't hesitate to share their thoughts on his comeback.

One disgruntled viewer declared: "Not watching." Another stated: "Sorry I can't watch Madeley. I'm opting to go out and run in the dark/rain as the better option. Disappointed."

Another chimed in with: "Richard Madeley co-presenting? No thanks @GMB." On the flip side, some fans were thrilled to see the 'dream team' reunited, with one commenting: "I So lovely to see Richard back this week with Susanna first time in weeks. @richardm56 and @susannareid100 welcome back Richard."

Another fan expressed their joy, saying: "So happy to see the best dream team back Richard and Susanna @susannareid100 and.@richardm56."

This comes as Richard recently discussed his future on GMB, asserting that he has no intention of leaving his day job anytime soon.

"I am very happy
