Goal shy Livingston's winless run extends to 11 after goalless draw with St Johnstone

Livingston's winless run stretched to 11 games as they were held to a scoreless draw at home to St Johnstone in a game that won't live long in the memory.

The first half was a drab affair with neither side having the courage to get the ball down and look to control possession. The Lions did at least pepper the Saints area with set-plays but they never looked like taking advantage.

Jason Holt's stinging effort that was tipped wide by Dimitar Mitov from 30 yards out was the closest either team came to opening the scoring before the break.

The hosts showed attacking intent in the early stages of the second half with James Penrice seeing an effort blocked while skipper Mick Devlin tried his luck from distance as space opened up in front of him - but curled a tame effort into the arms of Mitov.

Kurtis Guthrie was next to have a go but his header from a Joel Nouble cross posed no threat. Having been the better side, they squandered a tremendous chance to open the scoring on 54 minutes as Scott Pittman raced onto a ball over the top and, with only Mitov to beat, screwed his attempt harmlessly wide.

At the other end, Shamal George had precious little to do but was in the right place at the right time to deny Nicky Clark at the back post as the game petered out over the final stages - until Devlin somehow rolled the ball wide with the last kick of the ball when he looked poised to secure the three points after Mitov palmed out an enticing cross into the path of the skipper.
